Call 911
If the accident is minor, move your vehicle out of traffic and turn on your hazard lights. If anyone is injured or if another vehicle is involved, call 911.
*If police can’t come to the scene, you can file an accident report through your state’s DMV. For more information on how to purchase a new vehicle and what to do if your vehicle is totaled, contact your state’s DMV.
It is required to call the police in some states. In Massachusetts and New Hampshire, it is required if there are minor injuries or damages exceeding $1,000.
